Question:
What is the difference between Transaction Auto-Split (feature in Advanced Payroll) and Employee Accounts & Splits?
Answer:
EAS allows the system to automatically split employee costs based on dept. position or pay code. EAS also allows your to split wages into a specific GL Account that is assigned to the employee.
Question:
We initially went down the road of using General Ledger fixed allocation accounts. The downside with this is that the allocation information is in the General Ledger only. We would not be able to rely on the Payroll subsidiary ledger to run reports to show the actual hours, wages, etc. by employee. Can Employee Accounts & Splits be used to eliminate the fixed allocation accounts and update the payroll reports?
Answer:
Yes, Employee Accounts and Splits can take the place of fixed allocation accounts in the GL and show the results of the split on the payroll reports.
