Microsoft BC Change Affecting Excel Paste into Payroll NOW Grids

Customer Notice: Microsoft Business Central Platform Change Affecting Excel Paste Into Payroll NOW for BC Grids for Customers on BC 28.0

Microsoft BC change affecting Excel paste into Payroll NOW grids

If you copy and paste hours, mileage, or other earnings from an Excel spreadsheet into one of these BC/PayrollNOW grids, your data will not land where you expect.

What to do:

Upgrade your BC Environment to 28.1 (Contact your BC Partner for this)

-or-

As a temporary workaround, add a single blank placeholder column to take the place the action column “…” in your source Excel so the data lines up with the destination grid. If your spreadsheet is exported by a third-party tool (time-tracking system, mileage tracker, etc.), ask the vendor to add the same column to their export.

Integrity Data customers first reported the impact on Payroll NOW workflows during payroll runs processed on BC 28.0. Customers who continue to observe the misalignment and are on build 28.0 should contact their Business Central partner about a tenant update, as subsequent updates within the 2026 Release Wave 1 series to address the underlying behavior.

Update 28.1 was released on May 11, 2026, per the Microsoft Support cumulative-updates page for the release wave.
