Cause: HRP Pay Group field not set on the employee’s Position/Organization card
Applies to: Payroll NOW for Business Central (with Integrity Data HR / HRP integration)
Last reviewed: June 2026
Symptom
The Employee Posting Group on one or more Payroll NOW employee cards intermittently reverts to blank. The affected employees vary over time, and the value clears again even after it is manually re-entered in Payroll NOW.
Cause
In an HRP-to-Payroll NOW integration, HRP is the system of record and controls the data flow into Payroll NOW for BC. The Pay Group field on the employee’s Position/Organization card in HRP (Compliance section) maps to the Employee Posting Group field on the Payroll NOW employee card.
If Pay Group is left blank in HRP, then each time that employee’s record is updated in HRP the integration syncs the empty Pay Group downstream and overwrites the Employee Posting Group in Payroll NOW, setting it back to blank. Because HRP re-asserts its values on every sync, corrections made directly in Payroll NOW do not hold — the next HRP change reverts them. This is why the issue recurs and appears to affect different employees each time (only the employees being edited in HRP get re-synced).
Resolution / Workaround
The fix must be made in HRP, not in Payroll NOW:
- In HRP, open the affected employee’s Position/Organization card.
- Go to the Compliance section and locate the Pay Group field. When unset it displays “Please Choose (represents BLANK).”
- Select the Pay Group value that corresponds to the correct Employee Posting Group (for example, ALL).
- Save the record. The corrected value will sync to Payroll NOW and populate the Employee Posting Group.
- Repeat for each affected employee.
- To prevent recurrence, ensure Pay Group is always selected when adding or updating an employee in HRP. Where possible, make Pay Group required or defaulted so it cannot be saved blank.
Verification
After setting Pay Group in HRP and allowing the sync to complete, open the employee’s Payroll NOW card and confirm the Employee Posting Group shows the correct value. Then make a test edit to the employee in HRP and confirm the Employee Posting Group stays populated after the sync rather than clearing
